Remedies in a kundli — what is prescribed for which graha, on which weekday, and why the chart decides rather than the complaint.
0What a remedy is for
A remedy strengthens a graha, and which graha needs strengthening is a question about your chart rather than about your problem. Two people with the same complaint — no job — can need opposite remedies, because in one chart the 10th lord is weak and in the other it is the 6th lord that is too strong. This is also why a remedy taken from a list of complaints usually does nothing.

Before wearing a gemstone
A gemstone amplifies whatever the graha is already doing, which is why it is the one remedy that can make things worse. A stone for a graha that owns the 6th, 8th or 12th from your ascendant strengthens those houses too. The mantra and the weekday donation carry no such risk, and are where the classical texts start.
If you want to act on this
A remedy in jyotish is an act, not a purchase — a fast, a mantra, a donation on the right weekday. Where a formal ritual is called for, these are the three that apply: a puja performed on your behalf, a chadhawa offered at the temple, or an abhimantrit article energised with the mantra of the planet involved.
Not sure what this means for your own chart?
Ask the astrologer — it reads your chart, not a general rule, and answers in plain words.
Common questions
- Which gemstone is for which planet?
- Sun — Ruby, Moon — Pearl, Mars — Red Coral, Mercury — Emerald, Jupiter — Yellow Sapphire, Venus — Diamond, Saturn — Blue Sapphire, Rahu — Hessonite, Ketu — Cat's Eye
- Can a gemstone do harm?
- Yes. It amplifies the graha, so a stone for a graha that rules difficult houses in your chart strengthens those too. A mantra or a weekday donation does not carry that risk.
