Spiritual Path — which houses the path is read from, why Ketu is its significator, and what a strong 12th actually means.

Which houses this is read from

The 12th is the house of what is given up — sleep, expense, distant places, and the end of the self that jyotish calls moksha. The 9th carries the guru and the dharma that is inherited; the 5th carries the mantra and the merit brought from before; the 8th carries what is hidden and what is only learnt by being broken. Ketu is the significator, and it is the one graha that does not want its own house to prosper — where it sits, effort stops feeling worth it, and that is the point.

What is looked at

12th house
The main house — expenses, foreign lands, sleep and letting go.
9th house
Read with it — fortune, father, teachers and long journeys.
5th house
Read with it — intelligence, children, romance and past merit.
8th house
Read with it — longevity, sudden change, inheritance and hidden matters.
Ketu (karaka)
detachment, past skill and research
Jupiter (karaka)
wisdom, wealth, children and teachers
Saturn (karaka)
discipline, delay, labour and longevity

What a strong 12th is not

A well-placed 12th lord is read as loss by most people looking at their own chart, and that is the wrong reading twice over. The 12th spends, and what it spends on is decided by the houses its lord touches — a 12th lord with the 9th is pilgrimage and study abroad, with the 6th it is hospital and debt. The house is neutral about which.

If you want to act on this

A remedy in jyotish is an act, not a purchase — a fast, a mantra, a donation on the right weekday. Where a formal ritual is called for, these are the three that apply: a puja performed on your behalf, a chadhawa offered at the temple, or an abhimantrit article energised with the mantra of the planet involved.

Not sure what this means for your own chart?

Ask the astrologer — it reads your chart, not a general rule, and answers in plain words.
