What they are

Five yogas, one for each of the five tara grahas — the Sun and Moon have none. Each needs the same two things at once: the graha must be in its own sign or exalted, AND it must be in a kendra — the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house from the ascendant. Both, not either.

The five, and what each needs

Ruchaka Yoga (Mars)

Mars in Aries and Scorpio or exalted in Capricorn, and in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house.

Bhadra Yoga (Mercury)

Mercury in Gemini and Virgo or exalted in Virgo, and in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house.

Hamsa Yoga (Jupiter)

Jupiter in Sagittarius and Pisces or exalted in Cancer, and in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house.

Malavya Yoga (Venus)

Venus in Taurus and Libra or exalted in Pisces, and in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house.

Sasa Yoga (Saturn)

Saturn in Capricorn and Aquarius or exalted in Libra, and in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house.

Why most charts have none

A graha is in its own sign or exalted in roughly three signs out of twelve, and in a kendra in four houses out of twelve — so each yoga is about a one-in-twelve chance, and the five are not independent of each other. Having none is the ordinary case, and a chart is not weak for lacking them.

A remedy in jyotish is an act, not a purchase — a fast, a mantra, a donation on the right weekday. Where a formal ritual is called for, these are the three that apply: a puja performed on your behalf, a chadhawa offered at the temple, or an abhimantrit article energised with the mantra of the planet involved.
